Installing Sypha

Get Sypha running in your preferred IDE with these straightforward installation steps

Create Your Account

Register for a free Sypha account to access:

  • Multiple AI models including advanced stealth models
  • Simplified setup without manual API key management
  • Complimentary inference credits through partner providers

Have a Compatible Editor

Sypha is compatible with:

  • VS Code / Cursor
  • JetBrains IDEs (IntelliJ, PyCharm, WebStorm, etc.)
  • VSCodium / Windsurf

Ensure one is installed before continuing.

Installation Instructions

Launch VS Code and open the Extensions view:

  • Press Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + X, or
  • Click the Extensions icon in the Activity Bar

Type "Sypha" in the Extensions marketplace search bar

After installation completes:

  • Click the Sypha icon in the Activity Bar, or
  • Open Command Palette (Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + P) → type "Sypha: Launch In New Tab"

If VS Code shows "Running extensions might..." dialog, click Allow. If you don't see the Sypha icon, restart VS Code.

Installation Complete! You should now see the Sypha interface in your editor. Time to sign in!

Sypha for JetBrains works almost identically to VS Code, with all core features: diff editing, tools, multiple API providers, MCP servers, Sypha rules/workflows, and more.

Choose Your Installation Method

In your JetBrains IDE, go to Settings:

  • Windows/Linux: Ctrl+Alt+S
  • macOS: Cmd+,

Go to PluginsMarketplace tab

Search for "Sypha" and click Install

Restart your IDE to complete the installation

Click the Install to IDE button

Your IDE will open and prompt you to confirm the installation

Restart to complete the installation

Download from the marketplace page

Go to SettingsPlugins

Click the gear icon → Install Plugin from Disk

Select the downloaded .zip file and restart your IDE

Installation Complete! Find Sypha in ViewTool WindowsSypha (usually on the right side).

What Works in JetBrains

  • Diff editing and file modifications
  • Multiple API providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, local models)
  • MCP servers and custom tools
  • Sypha rules and workflows
  • @ mentions for files, folders, and problems
  • Drag & drop support

These editors use the Open VSX Registry instead of the VS Code Marketplace, but the installation process is nearly identical.

Launch your editor (VSCodium, Windsurf, etc.) and open Extensions view:

  • Press Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + X

Type "Sypha" in the marketplace search bar

Select "Sypha" by saoudrizwan and click Install

Reload your editor if prompted to complete installation

Installation Complete! Look for the Sypha icon in your Activity Bar or use the Command Palette.

Next Steps: Sign In & Start Building

Find and open Sypha in your editor:

  • VS Code/Cursor/VSCodium/Windsurf: Click the Sypha icon in the Activity Bar
  • JetBrains: Go to ViewTool WindowsSypha

Click the Sign Up button in the Sypha interface

You'll be redirected to app.sypha.bot to authenticate. After signing in, you'll automatically return to your editor.
